Elders China to feature at Ag in Asia Conference
Monday, 14 September 2015
Understanding consumer trends and ensuring businesses supply what Asian consumers actually want will be the focus of discussion when Managing Director & CEO of Elders China, Craig Aldous, speaks at Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise’s (TSBE) upcoming Ag in the Asian Century Conference.
Shanghai-based Mr Aldous has been living permanently in China since 2007 and in this time has been instrumental in tripling the sales of Elders food business in the country.
Elders China, previously known as Elders Fine Foods, sell premium meat products such as Wagyu beef and Angus beef to hotel chains, restaurants and bars.
Mr Aldous first came to China in 1992 on a language scholarship to complete his bachelor degree in International Business, before returning back to Australia to run his family’s abattoir and meat distribution company in Queensland.
Through his years spent in China, Mr Aldous has built strong experience with market access issues and the legal regulatory framework for food processing and distribution.
Food Leaders Australia (an initiative of TSBE) General Manager – Agribusiness and Export, Jo Sheppard, said she was looking forward to hearing what Mr Aldous has to share at the upcoming Conference.
“Mr Aldous has on the ground experience working in the Chinese market place and, as a result, has a unique perspective and understanding of market access regulations and what it takes to develop businesses in the competitive China market,” Ms Sheppard said.
“TSBE are fortunate to have secured him to present at this year’s Ag in the Asian Century Conference.”
Mr Aldous is also a Director on the Australian Chamber of Commerce Shanghai’s Board of Directors, and joins a number of business and industry leaders working in the Agriculture and agribusiness sector in Asian markets that will speak at this year’s conference.
The conference will be held in Toowoomba from 22-24 September at the Empire Theatre. To view the official program visit www.agintheasiancentury.com.au
